About the Author
Timothy Beatley is Chair of the Department of Urban and Environmental Planning and Teresa Heinz Professor of Sustainable Communities at the School of Architecture at the University of Virginia, where he has taught for over twenty-five years.�His primary teaching and research interests are in environmental planning and policy, with special emphasis on coastal and natural hazards planning, environmental values and ethics, and biodiversity conservation. He has published extensively in these areas, including the following books: Ethical Land Use; Habitat Conservation Planning: Endangered Species and Urban Growth; Natural Hazard Mitigation; and An Introduction to Coastal Zone Management.�In recent years much of his research and writing has been focused on the subject of sustainable communities, and creative strategies by which cities and towns can reduce their ecological footprints, while at the same time becoming more livable and equitable places. His books that explore these issues include Biophilic Cities, Resilient Cities, and Green Urbanism (Island Press).

Fantastic Read! I couldn't put it down!

Even though I had to read this book for an Ecology class, it was a thrilling read. I learned a great deal from this book, and got a fantastic perspective on how the future may (and should) be if biophilic techniques and cities catch on.

I did write a ton of notes in this book, even though it's a thin book. It's packed full of information, and it's read-friendly with sections for each concept. The author also uses a lot of interesting exactly from countries all over the world that you can actually do further research in (if you're into that).

All in all, I expect to keep this book for a long time and keep up with the updates in the field of biophilic urban design. Go green!

nice book but hey it just talking about a new luxurious term of ecological design. We had the professor himself given the lecture in Virginia Tech. I tell you that this book doesn't give a real worthy knowledge as I expected. I was fooled by the fancy title.

Umberto Quattrocchi earned his first degree in political science from the University of Palermo. He followed this achievement with an M.D., specializing in obstetrics and gynecology. In 1992, he retired from the practice of medicine to pursue his studies in botany across the world while teaching as a professor of political science. Highly prolific, Quattrocchi has numerous political and botanical books and articles to his credit, including those on plants and gardening that have been published in Hortus and The Garden. In 1997, he received the prestigious Hanbury Botanical Garden Award promoted by the Premio Grinzane Cavour for his book Piante Rustiche Tropicali.� He received a second Hanbury Award for the bestselling CRC World Dictionary of Plant Names. He is a member of the International Dendrology Society, the Royal Horticultural Society, and the Botanical Society of America. He is also an elected Fellow of the world-renowned Linnean Society.

About the Author
Joel Phillips�is professor of music theory and composition at Westminster Choir College of Rider University and recipient of its Distinguished Teaching Award. His compositions are published by G. Schirmer, Transcontinental, GIA, and Shawnee Press. A member of the editorial review board of the Journal of Music Theory Pedagogy, Phillips served for five years as chief faculty consultant for the Advanced Placement Examination in Music Theory. He has also served as president of the Music Theory Society of the Mid-Atlantic.

Paul Murphy is associate professor and Chair of music at Muhlenberg College. He is author of the Spanish/English edition of General Rules of Accompaniment: Jos� de Torres's Treatise of 1736 and has published articles in Theoria, Studies in Medievalism, The American Dalcroze Journal, and the Journal of Music Teacher Education. He holds a Certificate in Dalcroze Eurhythmics from Carnegie Mellon University and has many years' experience as an accompanist for ballet and modern dance.

Elizabeth West Marvin is professor of music theory and former dean of academic affairs at the Eastman School of Music. She has published in the areas of music cognition, music theory pedagogy, theory and analysis of atonal music, contour theory, history of theory, and analysis and performance. She is past president of the Society for Music Theory and is currently co-chair of the Advanced Placement Music Theory Test Development Committee. Marvin is the 2012 recipient of the Gail Boyd de Stwolinski Prize for Lifetime Achievement in Music Theory Teaching and Scholarship.

Jane Piper Clendinning is professor of music theory at the Florida State University College of Music. She has published articles reflecting her interests in the history of theory, theory and analysis of twentieth-century music, computer pitch recognition, and computer applications in music. Her current research interests include theory and analysis of popular and world musics. She has served as the chair of the Advanced Placement Music Theory Test Development Committee and as an AP reader, and is a regular consultant at AP workshops and summer Institutes.

Im neuen Rothmaler-Atlasband: Gef��pflanzen sind mehr als 3000 Habituszeichnungen von Wildpflanzen der Flora Deutschlands enthalten. Jede Pflanze ist wissenschaftlich exakt und ma�stabsgetreu mit mehreren charakteristischen Details dargestellt. Pfeile weisen auf wichtige Unterscheidungsmerkmale zwischen �hnlichen Arten hin. Vegetative Merkmale, auch solche, die im Textband nicht beschrieben werden, erleichtern die Bestimmung im bl�tenlosen Zustand. Die genauen Wuchsformdarstellungen illustrieren die M�glichkeiten der vegetativen Vermehrung und Ausbreitung. Angaben zur Gr��e, Lebensform, Bl�tezeit und zum Naturschutz erg�nzen die Abbildungen.

F�r diese stark bearbeitete 12. Auflage wurden mehr als 210 Pflanzenarten v�llig neu gezeichnet und weitere 60 bereits bestehende Zeichnungen erg�nzt oder korrigiert. Alle Legendentexte wurden kritisch durchgesehen und aktualisiert.

Die weitreichenden �nderungen im modernen System der Gef��pflanzen erforderten eine neue Anordnung der Abbildungen und viele Umbenennungen, wie sie bereits f�r die 20. Auflage des Grundbandes (2011) umgesetzt wurden. Bisher g�ltige Namen der Familien, Gattungen und Arten wurden als Synonyme ins Register aufgenommen. Grundband und Atlasband des Rothmaler, „Exkursionsflora von Deutschland“ entsprechen einander nun in der Benennung und Reihenfolge der Sippen.

Der Atlasband kann weiterhin selbst�ndig zur Erkennung in Deutschland wild vorkommender Arten genutzt werden, erm�glicht aber auch die Kontrolle von Bestimmungen mit dem Grundband und bietet rasche Hilfe bei der Unterscheidung �hnlicher Arten.

About the Author
Cheol S. Eun is the Thomas R. Williams Professor of International Finance at the DuPree College of Management, Georgia Institute of Technology. He has held appointments at the University of Minnesota, the University of Maryland where he received the Krowe Teaching Excellence Award, the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and the Esslingen University of Technology in Germany. Professor Eun’s research on international finance appears in leading research journals including the Journal of Finance, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of International Money and Finance and Management Science. Professor Eun chairs the annual Fortis/Georgia Tech Conference on International Finance the objectives of which are to promote research on international finance in a forum for academics, practitioners and regulators. He serves as a consultant to national and international organizations, including the World Bank and the Korean Development Institute, advising on capital market liberalization, global capital and exchange risk management. Bruce Resnick, Wake Forest University.

Bruce G. Resnick is the Joseph M. Bryan Professor of Banking and Finance at the Babcock Graduate School of Management of Wake Forest. He has also taught at Indiana University, the University of Minnesota, California State University and at the Helsinki School of Economics. Professor Resnick has served as resident director of the Center for European Studies at the University of Limburg in the Netherlands. His research interests include efficiency of options and futures markets and empirical tests of asset pricing. A major focus is the optimal design of internationally diversified portfolios controlled for parameter uncertainty and exchange rate risk. In recent years, Professor Resnick has investigated international portfolio investment strategies applying information in the yield curve. His research has been published in major academic journals in finance. Bruce Resnick is an associate editor for the Journal of Financial Research, Journal of Multinational Financial Management and the Journal of Economics and Business.

Poorly written: Stay away.

Poorly written book. For a student or reader attempting to understand international finance, the author has a terrible way of explaining new concepts. Worst, the tests and power points that McGraw sends to professors in conjunction to the study is worse! On numerous occasions the power point slides had the wrong information or poorly written questions. Stay away. Professors, please do not use this book in your class. Students be prepared .
